here's a short post today...My daughter will be going back to school on Monday! she's excited to start again...with that she wants all her things decorated! How could I say no? so I got her composition book and altered it a bit =) I used the Aloha HK sizzix die and the retro metro letters to make her name. I used the pretty paper from the DCWV.
here is the secret to be able to use a 12 x 12 DP to cover the front and the back and only have to use one sheet...cut the DP exactly in half...so you have 6"...use the corner rounder to do the one side of the corners. so now you have two (2) - 6" x 9 3/4"...then you have enough to do the back side of this composition book. then you can use any CS 4" x 9 3/4" to cover the binding of the book. I decided to stamp it as well, so it didn't look too plain. my BFF made one for her daughter and one person commented on it by telling her to use contact paper to cover it, otherwise it takes a beating...which I know it does. So I had some laminating paper and I covered her book front to back. I hope it survives the school year!
thanks for stopping by today!
we will make it to the weekend!

what a fun altered notebook for your girl!!!
Oh, it's so cute!!! I love the idea of covering it with laminating papers. Where did you purchase the laminating papers? I also liked the inside pocket idea on the other post (blue sitting hello kitty composition notebook for your niece). Mahalo for sharing!!!
So cute! Love the DP & the HK! TFS :)
Laminating paper sounds like a great idea! I'm going to try it. Thanks Joy!
Very cute notebook Joy!

Cute Joy!!! she'll love it... i made one for my little sister but i didn't cover the binding because it was a red and black DP, so it blended well... next one i make i'll try and cover the binding... TFS!!!
Taelyn will be the talk of her class with this c-u-t-e composition book!! Good idea about covering it with laminate, hopefully it survives the day-to-day use!
Taelyn will be the envy of her classmates, Joy. Using the laminate paper is a good idea and you must be pretty good in applying it so it's nice and smooth. Saw this blog where someone used grosgrain ribbon on the spine to use as a bookmarker - so she would know which page she's on.
So pretty, she's going to have the best looking notebooks & be the envy of her classmates.
This came out so cute and Taelyn will be the envy of her class! TTYL!
Super cute, I bet she loves it!!! I think people would stare if I was to pull out one of those during class, haha!!!
I LOVE my birthday gift Joy and I will be posting that with another one that I just got! YOU gave me too much girl!! =)
I hope that Taelyn has a great school year and wow, she is going back so soon!
Hugs
Jodi =)
LOVE IT! I'm too cheap to cover both front & back. hee-hee! I only do the front and make 2 books with 1 DP! Love the HK with her tan!
How cute this is, a wonderful book for her! Wow, they go to school early there! ~Hugs
Very cute composition book! I love that you used DSP for it. Great idea on the laminating paper. I'll have to try the laminating paper next year cause my daughter took her supplies to school already.
BTW: I have an award for you. Stop by my blog to pick it up...
