Monday Blog Candy!

Sunflower...Sunshine...Blog Candy!

I will be celebrating my one year BLOG-A-VERSARY! so please stay tuned next week as I will be giving away some blog candy!!! all next week...July 20-24, 2009. butterfly and flowers...

I decided to make my own gift card holder for my niece who celebrated her 10th birthday. I wanted the GCH to be different as I have made so many in the past. I saw a few different designs and then came up with this one. I like how it turned out. the base CS is 3 1/2" x 12". you will score it at 3" and 8". make sure the shorter side is on the left. This is where you will decorate the left flap. I used so saffron...3 1/4" x 4 1/4", certainly celery...3" x 4" and then white 2 3/4" x 3 3/4" all CS. decorate to your liking...I used dew drops, ribbon and the Simple Friendship stamp set from SU.
here is what it looks like when the first (left) flap is opened...I decorated the right flap with the sentiment Happy Birthday!

here's what it looks like once it's fully opened...I made a pocket for the gift card. the pocket is 3" x 3 1/2" and I used the 1 1/4" circle punch for the top. I had a picture of her from last school year, so I decided to use it. her name also starts with a K so I used the thickers to give it a more personal touch.

I took a picture to show you of what it looks like from the top. I like it because it gave it a two flap open...and just a different style.

happy "hump" day everyone...I am so glad that this week is almost over! stay tuned next week as I am going to celebrate my one year of blogging! what does that mean? it means BLOG CANDY!!! and lots of it! woot! woot!

Mrs. Yamada's gift...

On July 10, 2009...Taelyn had her last day of her special session of summer school. She really liked this teacher and I wanted to make something special for her. My daughter was so cute to try to find out Mrs. Yamada's favorite colors. She told me it was pink, white, yellow, black...So I tried to make everything in those colors. I tried to make my own open window box again, but this time I made it easier for me. I used my label one nesties to cut the window on the CS and then used a size bigger nestie for the DP. this came out so much better! here are the measurements...6" x 9" for the bottom of the box...5 1/4" x 8 1/4" for the top. Bottom of the box...score @ 1" all around. Top cover...score @ 1/2" all around.
here is what it looks like opened...I used so saffron for the cover and chocolate chip for the bottom of the box with CS. I added some prima flowers to decorate the outside of the box. Look at the yummy DP! I love this new line from doodlebug!

here I made a checkbook cover with my favorite gorjuss girl! I used Imaginisce DP and added some prima flowers with sugar coated brads...

I also made a photo holder too...here I used Wasabi from the Ketto line! I cut her out...oh boy is it very hard to do...I swear I almost cut off her arm and her neck! yikes!

last I decided to make her a simple post-it-note holder. I love the cupcakes, so I used that DP for the base and HK's bow.

I had to make a card so Taelyn could write a special message to her teacher...thanking her for a wonderful summer. I decided to use TGF! she is darling! I used yellow and pink as it was one of Mrs. Yamada's favorite colors. colored all my images with copics. I added a matching pen and some hand sanitizer to the gift box.

aren't you amazed? the year is going by so fast! it's the middle of July and then Christmas will be right around the corner! okay...I need to slow down...take it one day at a time =) thanks for stopping by today!

Grab bag...

Every year we have our annual neighborhood watch dinner...we do grab bags for this occasion, so I like to make handmade gifts...I decided to make a open window box for this. I had a hard time to do the measurements...as I decided to make my own box size instead of using the Valentine's day box template from PTI. I wanted it to be a little smaller. here's what it looked like...I added prima flowers and the HK butterfly embossed.

I decided to make some cards to fill the box with...I used the ketto stamp line! they are so cute and I loved coloring them! I love the new DP from doodlebug too! I used my spellbinders to enhance the images and some ribbon. I colored them all with my copics.

Cute box...

I know...I know...I have been MIA since I left for Vegas...sorry gang! I am back! I also have been creating a few things, but I just haven't had a chance to post anything! So this cute box creation is inspired by Teri...Big Ideas from a Little Girl...I had a project to do, that was given to me and needed to be done in less than a week. So I asked my GGF Teri to HELP me! after we made 35 of them...I wanted to thank Teri for all her help. So I created my own little cute box and this is what it came out to be! Thank you Teri for always being there and for the inspiration!
here is what it looks like on the inside...I stamped it with Circle Circus from SU. I used DP from doodlebug and the flower sizzix die...all from J's. I used the glad friends senitment from SU. I filled it with a couple of dandelion stamps =)

here are the measurements...bottom of box...6 1/2 x 8 1/2 CS. score the 6 1/2 way...1 1/2 & 5. score the 8 1/2 way...3 1/2 & 5. top of box...3 1/2 x 6 1/2 DP. score @ 3 1/2 & 5. the band is 1 x 11...score @ 3 1/2, 5, 8 1/2 & 10. decorate to your liking and you are done!
